The Pittsburgh Pirates drafted Dave Parker out of Courter Tech High School (Cincinnati, Ohio) during the 14th round of the 1970 Amateur Baseball Draft. He made is MLB debut in 1973 and was one of the best players in the league by 1975. In 1977, Parker made his first All-Star Game as he led the National League in hits (215), doubles (44) and batting average (.338). He won the 1978 NL Most Valuable Player Award after capturing his second straight batting title (.334 BA) along with 30 homeruns and 117 RBI. He followed that up with another All-Star campaign in 1979 as the Pittsburgh Pirates won the World Series. Parker joined the Cincinnati Reds in 1984 and continued to be one of MLB's premier hitters. He joined joined the Oakland A's in 1988 and was the RBI leader for the A's 1989 World Series Championship team. Parker spent his last two seasons with the Brewers, Angels and Blue Jays before retiring in 1991. He is widely regarded as one of the best players not inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
