Steve Owens Oklahoma Sooners Autograph Signing February 2014

On Saturday February 8th, GT Sports Marketing will host a public autograph signing for Oklahoma Sooners 1969 Heisman Trophy winner and Detroit Lions NFL Pro Bowl full back, Steve Owens. The signing is part of the 2014 Kansas City Midwest Football Autograph Experience and Sports Card Show at the Overland Park International Trade Center in Overland Park, Kansas.

In three seasons with the Oklahoma Sooners, Steve Owens rushed for an astounding 3,928 yards and 57 touchdowns. As a junior in 1968, Owens rushed for over 1,536 yards and 21 TDs. He followed that up with 1,523 yards and 23 touchdowns as a senior to win the 1969 Heisman Trophy. His 57 rushing TD's stood as the OU record until DeMarco Murray broke it in 2010. The Detroit Lions drafted him with the 19th pick of the 1970 NFL Draft. In 1971, Owens became the first Lions running back to eclipse the 1,000 yard mark. He was also selected to his first and only NFL Pro Bowl. He retired after the 1974 NFL season.
