The Pittsburgh Steelers used the 13th overall pick of the 1972 NFL Draft to select Franco Harris out of Penn State University. During his first season, Harris rushed for 1,055 yards and 10 touchdowns and was the 1972 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. That same year, he was also to play in the first of nine consecutive NFL Pro Bowls. He was a big part of the Steelers four Super Bowl Championships during the 1970's and was the Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl IX. He played one season with the Seattle Seahawks before his retirement after the 1984 season. At the time of his retirement, Harris' 12,120 career rushing yards trailed only Walter Payton and Jim Brown for the most rushing yards in NFL history.
