The Baltimore Bullets used the second overall pick of the 1967 NBA Draft to select Earl Monroe out of Winston-Salem State University. He played in all 82 games as a rookie and won the 1968 NBA Rookie of the Year award. Monroe played four full seasons with the Bullets and was selected to two NBA All-Star Games. In 1971, Monroe was traded to the New York Knicks. Two years later (1973), Monroe led the Knicks to there second NBA Championship. He played nine full seasons in New York, was selected to two more NBA All-Star Games and retired in 1980. Monroe was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1990.
