The Los Angeles Dodgers used the 13th pick of the 1994 Amateur Baseball Draft to select Paul Konerko out of Chaparral High School (Scottsdale, Arizona). He spent three years in the minors before making his MLB debut in 1997. In 1998, he was traded to the Cincinnati Reds, who traded him again at the end of the season to the Chicago White Sox. From the moment he arrived in Chicago, Konerko was on a path towards greatness. Over the next 16 seasons, Konerko pounded 432 homeruns, 1,383 RBI and was selected to six MLB All-Star Games. In 2005, Konerko led the White Sox to their first World Series Championship in 88 years, ending one of the longest championship droughts in history. The following season, he became the fourth team captain in White Sox history. He held the title until his retirement in 2014.
