The Tide took a 10-7 lead going into halftime, before falling behind 21-18 at the end of the third quarter. They scored on the first play of the fourth quarter on a 1-yard touchdown run by Eddie Lacy (20 attempts/ 181 yards/ 2 TDs). The Bulldogs re-gained the lead (28 - 25) with a touchdown run of their own just two minutes later. Amari Cooper (7 catches/ 127 yards/ 1 TD) made the play of the night with a 45 yard touchdown pass from A.J. McCarron (13 for 21/ 162 yards/ 1 TD/ 1 INT) with just over 3 minutes left.
Georgia had one last shot when they started out on their own 15-yard line with just over a minute left. With no timeouts left, quarterback Aaron Murray drove them down the field. With first and goal from the Bama 8-yard line, and unable to find a receiver in the end zone, Murray threw it to wide receiver Chris Conley who was just passed the line-of-scrimmage. Conley was tackled at the 5-yard line as the clock expired.
