Chances are, you've never heard of Grinnell, Iowa. Until yesterday, it's most famous resident was it's founder Josiah Bushnell Grinnell (1821-1891), who is credited with coming up with the famous phrase "Go west, young man, go west." For the last 24 hours, the small town has been the talk of the sports universe as Jack Taylor, who plays guard for the Grinell College Basketball team, set an new NCAA record with 138 points. The previous record was set by Bevo Francis of Rio Grande College who scored 113 way back in 1954.
Taylor was 52 of 108 from the field, including 27 of 71 from three point range. He was also 7 of 10 from the Free Throw Line. He scored 58 points in the first half and 80 in the second. His team defeated First Baptist Bible by a final score of 179-104.
