Last night, the Los Angeles LA Angels tied the Major League record of 20 strikeouts in a nine inning game in their 5-4 win over the Seattle Mariners. They were led by Zack Greinke who had 13 strikeouts after just five innings, but was pulled due to a high pitch count.
Kerry Wood (Chicago Cubs) and Roger Clemens (twice with the Boston Red Sox) are the only pitchers in MLB history to have 20 strikeouts in a single nine inning game. The Angels are the first team to accomplish the feat using more than one pitcher.
