After weeks of speculation, Darryl LeClair has released his plans for a new stadium for the Tampa Bay Rays. The proposed site is currently a vacant lot in the Carrillon area, which is located on the very north end of St. Petersburg. Check out the photos for the proposed stadium on BayNews9.
The formal proposal was made today at the St. Petersburg City Council meeting. Members of the Rays organization were reportedly in attendance, however the team has repeatedly stated that they will only consider a deal for a new stadium if they are allowed to explore options outside the city limits of St. Petersburg. Their lease agreement at Tropicana Field lasts through 2027.
