Kevin Mitchell Autograph Signing San Francisco SF Giants New York NY Mets Cincinnati Reds September 2014
The New York Mets signed Kevin Mitchell as an 18 year old Free Agent out of Clairemont High School (San Diego, California) in 1980. In 1986, Mitchell was a permanent fixture in the Mets starting lineup and played in every position except second base, catcher and pitcher. In the bottom of the tenth inning during Game Six of the 1986 World Series, Mitchell famously scored the tying run between the Mets and Red Sox. The Mets went on to win the Game and the Series. Mitchell was traded to the Padres in 1987, then again to the San Francisco Giants later in the season. Mitchell has tremendous success during his time in San Francisco. He was selected to two MLB All-Star Games and was the 1989 National League Most Valuable Player. He spent the final seven years of his career with the Reds, Red Sox, Mariners, Indians and Athletics before retiring in 1998.
