Last night, New York NY Mets starting pitcher, R.A. Dickey pitched his second consecutive 1-Hitter of the season as the Mets shutout the Baltimore Orioles 5-0. The knuckleballer carried the No-Hitter into the fifth inning, before being broken up by Wilson Benemit with a single. Dickey finished the game with 13 strikeouts and only two bases-on-balls.
He threw a 1-Hitter against the Tampa Bay Rays in previous start (Wednesday, June 13th) that was so close, the Mets filed an appeal to try and reverse the only hit of the game. This was the first time since 1945 that a MLB pitcher has thrown consecutive 1-Hitters.
New nickname for R.A. Dickey - "The One-Hit Monster."
