2012 MLB All Star Game Schedule of Events

The 2012 MLB All Star Game will be played in Kauffman Stadium, home of the Kansas City Royals. It will be the 83rd year of the event. This year's game will start at 8pm EST and will be televised by FOX. If you haven't voted for your favorite players yet, you still have some time. You have up until 11:59 EST on Thursday, June 28th to submit your ballot. As usual, you can vote up to 25 times.

The 2012 State Farm Home Run Derby contest will start at 7pm EST on July 9th. It will be televised LIVE on ESPN. I'm not 100% sure if this is new, but you can actually vote players in. I voted for Josh Hamilton, Albert Pujols and Prince Fielder to represent the American League and Joey Votto, Ryan Braun and Giancarlo Stanton for the  National League.

While the All-Star Game and Home Run Derby Contest are the two main events, there are plenty of other events going on throughout the entire weekend.

The Annual MLB All-Star FanFest runs from Friday, July 6th through Tuesday, July 10th. This event is always a blast and will be held at the Kansas City Convention Center. Open 9am-8pm everyday. Check out this list of baseball legends who are scheduled to appear at the FanFest. Many are former Royals players, even a couple Hall of Famers. You can even get a few FREE AUTOGRAPHS.

The 2012 Jr. RBI Games is a 40 game tournament that consists of 11-12 year-olds from around the world. The tournament will be played on various fields and venues throughout the KC area and last from Friday through Tuesday.

The Chevy Test Track will take place at Kauffman Stadium from July 8th through July 10th. It lasts all afternoon and evening.

If your a runner, you can take part in the 2012 All-Star Game Charity 5K and Fun Run. The 5K race will be held on Sunday, July 8th at 7:30am. The 1 mile Fun Run starts at 8am. This event will be held in downtown Kansas City. Net proceeds will benefit the Susan B. Komen for Greater KC, The Prostate Cancer Foundation and Stand Up to Cancer.

The MLB All-Star Sponsor Zone, Futures Game, and Legends and Celebrities Softball Game will all be held on Sunday, July 8th at Kauffman Stadium. The Sponsor Zone will last from 1:30-9:00pm EST, the Futures Game starts at 5pm EST and the Celebrity Softball Game starts at 8:30pm EST.

This is the third time Kansas City has hosted the MLB All-Star Game. The last two times were 1960 and 1973.
