Lou Brock spent just over two and a half seasons with the Chicago Cubs before a mid-season trade sent him to the St. Louis Cardinals in 1964. Once he joined the Cardinals, Brock developed into one of the best base runners in MLB history. From 1966 through 1974, Brock was the National League Stolen Base Leader eight times and the MLB Leader seven times. His best season came in 1974 (at 35 years old) when he swiped a MLB record of 118 bases, setting a new MLB record for the Live-Ball Era. He played in six MLB All-Star Games and posted four 200 hits seasons. On August 29, 1977, against the San Diego Padres, Brock stole second base during the first inning to tie Ty Cobb with 892 career steals. He stole second again during the seventh inning to become baseball's modern day career stolen base leader with 893. He went on to pass Billy Hamilton (914) to become the most prolific base stealer in the history of baseball. Brock was the first player to steal 900 bases along with 3,000 hits and was a member of the St. Louis Cardinals 1964 and 1967 World Series Championship teams.
