Toronto Blue Jays Spring Training - Things for Blue Jays fans to do in Dunedin, FL
Since their inaugural season in 1977, the Toronto Blue Jays have held all of their Spring Training in Dunedin, FL. The team trains at the Cecil B. Englebert Complex and plays their games at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium (former site of Grant Field). The sites are only about 3.5 miles apart and are easy to get to. Here are the addresses:
Cecil B. Englebert Complex
1700 Solon Ave.
Dunedin, FL 34698
Florida Auto Exchange Stadium
373 Douglas Ave.
Dunedin, FL 34698
From Solon Ave, head west until you reach County Road 1, then head south and make a right on Main Street. You'll come at a fork in the road just before you approach Downtown Dunedin, near Mease Dunedin Hosptial. You can take the route to the left, that takes your right into downtown, or the bypass to the right. There is not much difference in time. Either way, make a left on Douglas Ave. Look for the stadium on the left. You can't miss it.
If you're from out of town and vacationing in Dunedin there are plenty of things for you to do. Here's a short list.
1) Visit Downtown Dunedin - One of the nicest small town downtowns you'll find anywhere. There are plenty of shops and restaurants. Kelly's Chic-a-Boom Room is the most popular nightclub in the area.
2) Honeymoon Island State Park - If the weather is nice (it usually is) make your way out to Honeymoon Island. The island is home to an abundance of wildlife and also has a good size beach. You'll get plenty of sun and sand. Plus, you can take ferry boat to get to the #3 destination on this list.
3) Caladesi Island State Park - Consistently rated as one of the Best Beaches in the USA by Dr. Breach, Stephen Leatherman. It even took the top spot in 2008. You can get to the island by taking the Caladesi Island Ferry, or if you are a walker, you can walk to it from Clearwater Beach.
