On Saturday, February 14, 2015, Tristar Productions will host a public autograph signing for New York Mets/ California Angels/ Houston Astros/ Texas Rangers Baseball Hall of Fame Class of 1999 pitcher, Nolan Ryan. The signing is part of the 2015 Houston Collector's Convention which will take place inside the NRG Center in Houston, Texas.
Nolan Ryan was an 18 year old kid when he was drafted out of Alvin High School (Alvin, Texas) by the New York Mets during the twelfth round of the 1965 Amateur Baseball Draft. He made his MLB debut in 1966 before becoming a fifth and sixth starter in 1968. Ryan was part of the historic, '69 Miracle Met World Series Championship team. During the series Ryan struck out three batters in 2.1 innings of work and picked up the Save in Game 3. At the end of the 1971, Ryan was traded to the California Angels and "The Ryan Express" was born. During his first season as a full time starter, Ryan led the majors with 329 strikeouts. The following year, he set a modern-day record with 383 strikeouts during a single season. During Ryan's eight seasons with the Angels, he captured seven AL strikeout titles, five MLB strikeout titles, was selected to five MLB ALl-Star Games and threw four No-Hitters. He joined the Houston Astros in 1980 and continued to be one of the most dominating pitchers in the game. During his nine seasons in Houston, Ryan captured two NL ERA titles, two NL Strikeout titles and was selected to two more All-Star Games. He also recorded his fifth career no-hitter led the Astros to Division Championships in 1980, 1981 and 1986. In 1989 (at 42 years old), Ryan joined the Texas Rangers and led the majors with an incredible 301 strikeouts, becoming the oldest player in MLB history to lead the league in strikeouts. The next season (at 43 years old), Ryan again led the majors again with 232 strikeouts. He picked up his sixth (1990) and seventh (1991) career no-hitters with the Rangers before retiring in 1993. He holds several MLB pitching records including most career no-hitters (seven), most career strikeouts (5,714) and lowest number of hits per nine innings (6.6).
