Whitey Ford Autograph Signings NY New York Yankees

Whitey Ford spent 16 MLB seasons in Yankees pinstripes and is the regarded as greatest starting pitcher in team history. He began his major league career in 1950 and posted a 2.81 ERA to go along with a W/L record of 9-1. He capped off the year with a 8 2/3 innings, 7 strikeout performance in Game 4 of the 1950 World Series as the Yankees swept the Phillies 4-0 to capture their 13th World Series title. Ford enlisted into the military after the season was over and spent two years fighting the Korean War. He returned to the Yankees in 1953 and posted an 18-6 record along with another World Series Title. Went on to play in eight MLB All-Star Games, led the American League in Wins three times and won the 1961 MLB Cy Young Award. He played on five World Series Championship teams and is the Yankees All-Time career wins leader with 236 victories. His .690 career winning percentage is the third-highest in MLB history.
